Should I get a job???

I quit my job on Friday. I returned from Asia and had this overwhelming feeling I didn't want to go back there any more. For the past 6 years I have been in the 'health promotion' business - encouraging kids to walk to school.

If you know me you know I usually say it as I see it. I told my boss - my heart's not in it any more. Someone else can put thier passion into it. Not sure when I will actually finish - as I am busy at the moment doing my Cert IV in Tranining and Assessment (which work payed for!). and getting more things ready for Yarraville market and Market3031.

I know what I would like to do - but is there a demand for it.

I WOULD LIKE TO TEACH CROCHET.

I have never asked for feedback before but I am now.

Is there anyone out there (in Melbourne) who would be interested in learning the ins & outs of how to crochet???
I'm not asking you to sign up or anything - I just want to know if there is a need.

sugar & spice .....slugs and snails

How hot was it today....and it's not even summer yet.
I feel guilty that I put the air conditioning on. But thanks to the previous owners lacks of forward thinking there is no insulation in the walls or roof.
It heats up too quickly.
Eliza's babushka
I have been busy on a little commission for the beautiful Eliza. She turns 1 this weekend. I have made her a set of nesting babushkas - but with a special touch....she has stunning red hair.....just like Eliza.

slugs and snails but no puppy dog tails When I was much younger that I am now I used to play a game with my brother.
After it rained we would collect a snail each.
We would stick them back to the wall.
Next too each other.
We would then race then up the wall.
I wonder if that's one of his memories too.

Elmos My nephew spends all day chatting...I can't understand most of what he says....but for some unknown reason all his sentences end in Elmo.

Show Time

fireworks

If you live in Melbourne you will know its school holidays, and it's also show time.

They Royal Melbourne Show. It's something we can't ignore every year or pretend it's not on, because at about 9pm for 10 nights Jack gets to see fireworks outside his bedroom window. Even if the blinds are down...he can still hear them. Some may be suprised he's still awake at that time..but he is a bit of a reader at night. Most nights he's fallen asleep on a book!

A few years ago I exhibited my 'first go' at crocheting in the show. It was a blanket I'd made for Jack. It didn't really fit into any of their categories - as it was made from op-shop and recylced wool. It didn't win...but it did get displayed. I've circled it in red so you can see! I'm glad to see that they have now added this as a category.

Jack's Blanket

Anyway...will probably go to the show on Thursday and see all the usual - decorated cakes, flying pigs, wood chopping, dogem cars, big pie and maybe the McKay Brothers cows.

Yesterday was a big day!
I went on a school excursion to the Immigration Museum....

60+ preps, on the train, then a walk along the river, have a look around, then back on the train to school - wow. I was exhausted...they were stuffed!!
The photo is yet another bad photo of Jack (silly cheesy smile) - they had to find there name withing the list of immigrants.

If you get a chance go and see the Kimono exhibition - on until the 14 September.

Jack @ museum Today Angus is 8 - where drums a good idea?
Angus on drums!

Rain, Rainbows and Radio

I am count downing to Cambodia. In the next school holidays I am taking the kids and mum to Cambodia to visit Peter (my brother) who is about to become a dad for the first time! He's been over there for a while now running a hotel with a friend. The photo above is of Peter's car outside in the rain about a year ago - hopefully we'll get a bit of beach weather!

I love colour. I also love order!

You can spend a lot of time sorting things....but if my desk, room, house, car etc ....is tidy & 'sorted' my mind is too.

This week I have been making something from the 'last minute patchwork gift' book. Pencil case rolls - which I hope will sell once they are finish - either on Etsy or at the Rose St Market where I will be having a stall in August

Did you know it was 'walk to school' day last Friday? Well Jack got to talk to Hughies & Kate from Nova 100....with a little help from Drew Petrie from North Melbourne Footy Club. They then walked to school together with Zoe, Angus, Frank, John & Pete!
