It's been a while......

so here is a quick update 

 I took Jack to a surprise visit to the Zoo 

- because the others started school a day earlier

 Started planning out my new front garden

 bought a caravan!

And had a little holiday...with more planned 

 made some 'yarn bombing' for some onabee advertising

 Got 8 big crates delivered to my place - then lined them with plastic

 Yarn Bombed the western suburbs

 Took the kids to the footy

 Finished my first pair of toe-up-two -at-a-time socks

 Watched my new veggies grow

 Organised a 'Knit in Public' event - on the train 

After all it is winter in Melbourne

 Learnt a new craft - wool dyeing

 my baby turned 15

 I had a show at the Bendigo Sheep Show

 Selling my new hand-dyed yarn

 Went to 'Open House Melbourne 

and visited the Observatory 

 Started making hexagons out of Koigu

 went to Life in Style

 Purchase more Sophie Digard Scarves for Onabee

Picked my first crop of snow peas.......yum.

So I haven't been idol just slack at blog posts

Holidays are nearly over....

Well I hope you have enjoyed your summer holidays.

As I have 2 boys I spend a lot of holiday time hanging around skate parks.

I wanted to share this one with you - there is a skate park in Afghanistan called Skateistan that is helping the kids there have a bit of fun as well get a bit of education.

This is Jack....my more than slightly mad son. He loves the beach....rolling in the sand like he is a lamington getting covered in coconut. He has seaweed on his head! I thought it was a wig until he got close up to me and I could see what is actually was!

The weather has been great, as has the company.

It's weird being on the 'other side' of the bay....good weird. Lots more beaches and places to go.

still havn't got my self organised, or a job......but thinking about it....

More Bangkok....Thanks Meg

This Internet thing is everywhere....but better if you have your own laptop with you. As I don't it takes a little longer to find a computer that was made in the 21st century that has a USB port.

Well an update. Meg & Amelia took me back to China Town for some serious shopping. they took me to tourist free zones....loved it. Especially because they were both able to do the talking for me!

I bought some beautiful linen from this shop. The guy was great - he gave me little swatches of all the colours to take home. I will post his shop details later.

Next it was off to the secret fabric shop at the back of a shop. You would NEVER find this if you didn't know it was there.

It was dusty, with cobweb 100's of years old hanging from the ceiling. But soooo much fabric. Liberty, made in Japan stuff....amazing.

Then it was time for a bit of serenity........

We went to Jim Thompson House. The place was beautiful. It couldn't have been any different to the bustle of China Town.

As Meg was leaving to go back home Angela arrived! We went and had a few drinks then went out to Suan Lum Night Bazaar. Weird and wonderful things there.

Fancy a fish spa??? Freaky!

It was soon time to go of to Lao - Luang Prabang....but not before spotting some Broccoli Chips at the airport. Who thought they would be a good idea?

Same Same.........But Different

Jack is becoming an expert at sleeping anywhere! This was waiting for dinner in Hong Kong. But he has done it on all forms of transport too......planes, trains, buses.

Angela took us out to 'Rat Alley' in Central (Hong Kong) for dinner; to a curry place of all things. 'Elvis' was one of the guys who gets the customers in! The kids loved him.

Zoe, Jack and Me out the front to Fantasyland. Look at the big dark rain clouds behind us; not long before they rolled in and soak us once again.

Finding a computer from this Millennium is proving to be a challenge. Once I do, more photos to come.

Today we arrived back in PP.

It's amazing how quickly you can get used to a place. I was terrified of the traffic a week ago. Today I went on the back of a Motto (vesper), saw 2 accidents happen in front of us, was able to hold on with just one hand, and the whole time was cool calm and collected.

The food area at the Russian Market however was another matter. Nearly lost my lunch a few times. The meat out in the sun and heat all day is enough to make anyone a Vegetarian.

The kids and I have been having a competition to see who can see a Motto with the most amount of people on it. Peter says he's seen 9. The other day I say a newborn being cradled by the passenger. But today in PP I saw one with 7. Will post the photo soon.

Mum however tells me she saw a block carrying a pool table on the back of one. No photo unfortunately. And it wasn't a full size one!

CAMBODIA

Wow!!!

We have made it to Sihanouk Ville.
It is too hard to put into words. Friendly, dirty, poor, happy, wet and hot.

I'm sitting in an internet cafe in the downtown area. Keyboard gets stuck a lot.

We have spent every day visiting Peter and his extended family. My 3 children and the 3 that live at his place are now great friends - dispite the lauguage barrier. This does not really seam to exist when children play.

Besides Peter and Anie and their new baby (Michael) Joe, there are 3 other children living at their house.
Pa, who is 15 yrs old, comes from Phnon Penh (PP) and is Anie's cousin.

Punit (probably spelt incorrenctly) is Annie's 4 yr old son, who is a bit grumpy at times, especially when Jack tries to take the football away.
Lastly there is Aswhat or ''Skinny Frog" (Rut is his real name) is also staying with them. He is about 2 yrs old. His ''parents" live in PP but do not work at the moment...so he stays with Peter and Anie. Peter says he does not cost much to look after. I disagree. Last night we all went to dinner at Treasure Island resturant down on the beach. Skinny Frog ate more food than anyone else there....including the adults.

Anie's mum also lives with them "'Mai". She and my mum have been ''connecting''. The other night at their house she gave mum a ''massage'. I think mum's scared of her now!

There are lots of photos I wanted to post - but will have to do it later when I get onto a newer computer that has the correct connections.

My internet time is running out and I have some more shopping to do before rest time. I think the mozzies are attaching me as well.

By the way - Hong Kong - amazing! hot, clean and great shopping. Connex could learn a lot from them.

The Final Countdown

It's now only 4 days until we are all off on our South East Asia trip.

First stop will be Hong Kong to visit Angela. (she is Mum's youngest sister) She Lives on Lamma Island.

Angela is the media manager for Animals Asia.
While we are in Hong Kong Jack will turn 6 years old, which definitely warrants a trip to HK Disneyland.
And hopefully a day shopping!

Our next stop will be Sihanoukville. It is on the South West coast of Cambodia. My bother, Peter, is living there, and has just become a father!

Our final destination will be in Thailand to visit Meg, Nick and their ever expanding family.

HOLIDAY COUNTDOWN

Today the kids had their holiday vaccinations!
We don't need to have the anti-malaria drugs...just repellent.
While we were on the way home I popped into The Cats Meow. I couldn't resist this little bag...I'm sure I'll find a great use for it! It adds to my collection of babushka doll stuff.
