Sunday Finds...

Today I ventured East and went to the Camberwell Market
As I may have mentioned before, I've been going here for over 30 years.
I used to ride my bike over from Kew in my mid teens.
I have bought so much stuff here over the years.
I love to barter - in fact I can't help but ask for a better price.
I've always found that if I go there looking for something in particular
I usually find it -
even if I've never seen one of 'insert thing l'm looking for' there before.
Below are some of todays finds.
These days I prefer to just take photos of the stuff I like or that catches my eye.

Japanese Dinner Set

Lego - Simpsons / Star Wars People

Colourful Glasses
There is a bloke I see there occasionally - Rocky. He sells secondhand stuff / antiques and nicknacks.
But he is also quite an artist. A few years ago he was making brooches out of old rulers - in the shape of animals. They were very cute. Anyway today he had these amazing flowers for sale. Made from old bits of metal he has created a garden of flowers.

2010 - a new year

Last night the kids and I went to Williamstown beach to try and get out of the repressive Melbourne heat.
It didn't really happen.
It was still about 38 at 8pm.
We then headed off to The Strand to watch the fireworks. This was our view at about 8.40pm. The Blue moon is just rising above the skyline, and the ominous grey rain clouds are getting ready to burst open.
This happened about 15 minutes later.....when people where running out of the rain.
We did get to see a few fireworks.
But the kids enjoyed the flares and car honking by all of the 'revellers' more.

Anyway have a happy and crafty year.

Finds...

Today while popping up posters for market3031 I stumbled across the Kris Kringle Night Market at the Northcote Town Hall.
I bought this little hair clip. Why you ask? Well I like to see what other people are creating, as well as to buy other peoples stuff.
This little clip was make by Cherry Stew. She also makes some gorgeous little outfits - but I have no little people to give these to at the moment.

Also in my travels this afternoon I stumbled across Local Shop. The place had a wonderful feel about it...and the smell was beautiful. It is a flower shop at the front and some fantastic products by some very cleaver locals at the back. They now stock Rabbit & the Duck stuff - who has some great photos of the Local Shop in her blog.
They are so new they don't seem to have a website.

Found this image from Kat MacLeod's Lamington Drive via The Jacky Winter group via Design*Sponge via Polka Dot Rabbit! It is amazing the travelling you can do on line!

The surreal queue at Dali.......

Last night I thought I'd pop in to the NGV and go to see Dali. I had put it off for ages but was keen to go. I heard a few days ago that on the last night it was going to be open 24hours. Great. Sharron was also keen to go. So after dinner at about 8.30pm we went into the NGV.
OMG!
The line went for ages (but that was just the one we could see!).

We waited in line for over 3 ½ hours before we got to the front of the line at 12.30am. Now that was surreal.
By the time we got in we were slightly delirious.
So were most of the people there.
It was amazing to see how many people in Melbourne come out to see things!
I did take a few photos - this was one of my favorite pieces

Crochet Classes in Kensington

I will be starting another beginners crochet class next term.
It will only be a 4 week term, as I'm going OS.
So if you might be interested call Kensington N'hood House.
It will give you all the skills you need to start you off!

Thursday, September 10

urban snowman

While walking down the shops this morning I spotted this fellow!
I think I'm a bit blogged out. Not sure if it's because I have soo much to say & don't know where to start - or just over it!

What were we thinking.....

This weekend I made about 60 of theses cupcakes, honey joys & chocolate crackles. Somehow we ended up with two birthday party's on the same day.
Jack (7) started at 10am and was full on.
Zoe's (11) started at 5pm. I was the cook for this one, but as she wanted it at dads house......I was off the hook. I think these 8 girls will be very tired come Monday
During my travels over the weekend I took one of my shortcuts. Got a bit lost.....but found this place! Good find
It's hard rubbish in Hawthorn. I have such a full house - so am trying to give up this little addiction. So instead I took a photo of this great piece. I folds out flat. Very groovy. I went back the next day......gone!
If you popped by my site ....I'd love you to leave me a comment...so I know I'm not talking to myself.

She will get it in November when I go and visit ....over in Cambodia

The other day while walking down Lonsdale street I come across this fancy bird!
